  8. What is the Backdrop Changer?
  9.  
  10.    The backdrop changer is a small utility that enables you to
  11.    set your Windows 3.1x background picture from any bitmap, anywhere
  12.    on your hard disk.
  13.  
  14.    It also allows the changing of the desktop color, as some background colours
  15.    look better than others with different pictures.

  17.    I wrote it after getting fed up with having to type the full path
  18.    for every bitmap whenever I wanted a change!

  20.    I decided to release this program as freeware after I had a number of 
  21.    requests for copies from friends who were also looking for such a program.

  26.    Windows 3.1 or 3.11

  28.    It will not run on Windows 3.0 as I use a couple of 3.1 API calls, and the 
  29.    3.1 Common Dialogs DLL

  31.    I make no promises about compatibility with any future versions of Windows
  32.    either!

  35. Installation

  37.    Run INSTALL.EXE from the disk or archive

  40. Using The Backdrop Changer

  42.    When you run the program, press SELECT to change the picture, and NONE to set the
  43.    picture to a blank screen.  The TILE checkbox allows you to tile the display of the
  44.    bitmap (or not as the case may be), to change the desktop colour, press the COLOUR button
  45.    and select a new colour to use.

  48. How Much Do I Want For This Program

  50.    ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

  52.    This does not apply however if this program is sold as part of a package of software
  53.    sold for profit.

  55.    It can be distributed by shareware libraries for a small cost for the disks and postage,
  56.    on shareware CD's, or via bulliten boards or Internet FTP sites.
  57.    Of course, it can always be distributed by giving to your friends/collegues etc for
  58.    nothing.

  60.    The only thing I ask is that you keep the files BDSWITCH.EXE and README.TXT together in
  61.    the compressed archive when the program is distributed, and don't claim your work as mine!

  66.    I accept absolutely no responsibilty for anything nasty which happens to your system as 
  67.    a result of using this (or any other) program.  (hopefully nothing will, but I have to
  68.    put this in anyway)

  73.    If you find any bugs in the program, contact me on Tom@kfs.org, and I will endevour to
  74.    fix them.  I do not plan to update the program though, as I am a busy final year student
  75.    at University Of Wales, Swansea, and as a result I have better things to do with my time
  76.    (like revising for final exams!)  Any feedback will be welcome, but that's all I want, no
  77.    money, no postcards, nothing.
